Rylan finally confirmed that he will be co-hosting The Xtra Factor with Matt Edmondson on This Morning today (July 1), and presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford surprised him with a congratulatory message from Nicole.

“Rylan, my little pumpkin doodle,” she said. “I’m so proud of you baby, you’re all grown up and congratulations!

“I can’t believe we’re having you back and now we get to have fun together and we get to spray schlove all over everyone on X Factor together, stay frigging schmazing – I love you baby!”

An emotional Rylan responded: “I love her, I’m such a Scherzy boy!

“I can’t believe this is happening – this is all just really surreal and crazy – and I just want to say, to Syco and Simon [Cowell] and everyone involved, that I’m so honoured, genuinely, to be back.

“I really am, and Melvin [Odoom] and Rochelle [Humes] did such an amazing job last year. I love them dearly, they are great.”
