Nicole Scherzinger on her body insecurities and beating her eating disorder
Dec 30 2014

Schamazing star Nicole Scherzinger is NAILING IT right now, with a new single out and a stellar performance in West End musical Cats.

In fact, her career has been on the up ever since she joined girl group Pussycat Dolls in 2005, with stints on both US and UK versions of The X Factor, plus solo albums acting gigs to boot.

Which is all testament to how far Nicole has come… Because the star battled with the eating disorder bulimia through her 20s.

In a new chat with Reveal, 36-year-old Nicole opens up about body confidence issues and the pressure she felt to be thin during her time with Pussycat Dolls.

“It started in college for me. So it’s 15 years of it, on and off,” explains Nicole.

“And then, when I joined the group there definitely was a lot of emphasis on the physical aspect of it. And I was quite insecure in my body. So it really weighed heavy on me psychologically and emotionally.”

It was when she started blacking out before performances that Nicole realised something had to be done and she went on to successfully beat her eating disorder.

In our chat, Nicole says that it’s because of her own tough times that she ‘gets’ what’s going on in other people’s lives.

“We all struggle with something, whether it’s an eating disorder, spot-prone skin, our weight, or something in a relationship.”

Now, the star is channelling her energies into her music.

Latest single Big Fat Lie is out now and she tells us: “‘I want people to know they can relate to me. They’ll get to know me through my music and be like ‘oh my gosh, I feel the same way’.”

Oh, and let’s not forget her seven year romance with Formula One hunk Lewis Hamilton!

After a couple of rocky patches, the pair are now looking stronger than ever and Nicole has been filling her Instagram feed with cute snaps.

However she tells us that a wedding is out of her hands, adding: “Only god knows and everything in his timing, that’s what I always say.”
