Nicole Scherzinger’s Releasing A New Album: Here Are 5 Things We Learned At The Pre-Launch Party

We headed to Cafe Royal to listen to Nicole Scherzinger perform tracks from her new album ‘Big Fat Lie’ and it was fab! Wish you’d been there? Fret not, because here are five things we learned from the evening…
1) Samuel L Jackson is a fan
As we took our seats in the Oscar Wilde room at the Cafe Royal hotel we spied Samuel L. Jackson sat eagerly waiting for Nicole. After her performance she raced over to greet Samuel and it seems the pair are firm friends. Who knew? Nicole and Samuel actually performed together back in September at a charity event Samuel was hosting. Nicole’s former X Factor contestant Jahmene Douglas was also sat in the audience on Tuesday night. ‘Memba him? He’s currently working on his latest album as an ‘independent project’. Nicole’s boyfriend Lewis Hamilton was absent from the evening but he did just win the Russian Grand Prix over the weekend so, you know, he has been busy.

2) Big Fat Lie is autobiographical
Before she performed the title track of her new album Nicole explained that the song was about her own issues, about lying to other people and it’s about lying to herself. She said that sometimes we get so caught up in these lies that we can’t move on and said: ‘We need to reveal in order to heal’.
3) She’s funny
Not only does say really say ‘Shamaze’ and ‘Balls’ in normal conversation (and we love her for it) but Nicole is also self deprecating too, in a funny way. Before she belted out Don’t Hold Your Breath she got some laughs when she quipped: ‘The next track I’m going to sing got to number 1 here in the UK, in fact, it’s my only song to have reached number 1 here.’ Maybe you had to be there.
4) Sam Smith
As well as performing her own new material Nicole decided to cover Sam Smith’s track I’m Not The Only One. Sam, she explained, is a dear friend of hers and is ‘pretty special that one’.
The preview was held in the opulent Oscar Wilde room at Cafe Royal
5) She can REALLY sing
Nicole revealed that Tuesday night’s preview was her very first accoustic live set, ever. While she was joined on stage by singers Wendi Harriott and Sharlene Hector for most of the performance for the final track Run, she performed it solo and wow she can really belt out a tune. Run is a warning to women to avoid a certain type of man – she literally tells you to run from his as fast as you can. Nicole; singer and relationship expert.
