Nicole Scherzinger: “This song is really personal to me, and I love it”
Aug 26 2014

Nicole Scherzinger’s latest single On The Rocks will make people “weep like a baby”.

Nicole Scherzinger says no one will want to get on her bad side after hearing her new song.

The 36-year-old’s latest single is On The Rocks, which is set to appear on her yet-to-be-titled forthcoming album. This record will also mark her first release following her signing to Sony’s UK imprint label, RCA Records, earlier this year.

With lyrics such as, ‘You’re all out there/ Waiting, to break my heart again,’ Nicole admits the track came from an emotional place. The star’s relationship with Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has been famously on/off, with the pair’s most recent split coming last year although they have since reunited.

“This song is really personal to me, and I love it. I think… it’s a break-up song so wait til you hear it. It pretty much explains when you hear it you get it. I just shot the video for it and it’s my favourite video I’ve ever done. Some real shenanigans,” she told BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Scott Mills.

“It’s black and white, it’s very cinematic and I just wanted the video to not feel like a music video and just really authentic and really raw. It’s good. I never really say that about my stuff but this is GOOD. You are gonna weep like a baby, and then you’ll be like, ‘I’m never gonna get on her bad side!’ This is all about girl power, this song is very empowering.”

Earlier this month Nicole and her beau Lewis visited the White House, where they met the US President Barack Obama and his family. The couple rubbed shoulders with the likes of Stevie Wonder, and it was all for a good cause.

“Yes I did, I went to the White House, I got invited to represent the Special Olympics because I’m a Global Ambassador for them. That was awesome and beautiful, and I got to meet all the athletes and see the Obamas obviously,” she added. “And Katy [Perry], she performed and did a wonderful job. Yeah [I used the toilet], and there’s a picture of Jackie O right next to it. Good quality [toilet roll]!”
