Jahmene Douglas may have narrowly missed out on winning last year’s X Factor, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to pursue his dreams of a singing career and it looks as though his efforts have already paid off.

The 22-year-old is currently revelling in the success of his debut album, ‘Love Never Fails,’ which topped the charts in the UK earlier this month. While the record has clearly proved to be popular with fans, it was slammed by critics for its lack of original material – Jahmene chose to cover popular tracks by artists such as Beyonce, Emeli Sande and Whitney Houston.

EntertainmentWise recently sat down with the powerhouse singer to discuss how he is finding his newfound success, what fans can expect from his next album and his close friendship with his former X Factor mentor Nicole Scherzinger…

Did you always have plans to record a collaboration with Nicole Scherzinger on the album?

It just kind of happened. There was no way I would ever touch a Whitney Houston song by myself so I wanted Nicole on it. And just to show people how Nicole really sings as well because she can sang!

Has she been mentoring you over the last few months?

She’s just my friend and I think that’s better than a mentor could be.
