Nicole Scherzinger: ‘The X Factor was a jungle… and I’m proud to have survived it!’

She certainly hit headlines with her unique  judging style and ‘Scherzisms’ during her time on The X Factor last  year.

And now Nicole Scherzinger has revealed she  is ‘dancing around’ a possible return to the ITV talent show.

Speaking to MailOnline, Nicole said she  hasn’t ruled out rejoining the panel for the 2013 series, and is proud to have  survived the ‘jungle’ of a show last year.

Referring to her Pussycat Dolls bandmate Ashley Roberts’ stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Nicole said: ‘I think The X Factor is our own jungle and I’m proud that I was able to survive that and came out on top… Not our own jungle, it’s own animal, it’s own beast.’

Regarding an possible comeback on the show, Nicole said: ‘I’m definitely dancing around with the idea. The show was one of my greatest highs from next year, having two of my contestants in the next two for the first time ever on the show was quite an accomplishment for me and for my boys.

‘But we’re just going to have to see.’

According to reports, Tulisa Contostavlos has been axed from the judging panel, while Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh are expected to return.

Until a possible comeback on the show, Nicole is concentrating on her music, and will be releasing her new single Boomerang on 10th March.

She said of the track: ‘I just love the lyrics and the energy of the song. My friend Jamie Marshall wrote it and I really connected with it.

‘And when will.i.am played me that song I could relate to the lyrics, about coming back even stronger, and I thought he had a really cool spin on how to say that and how it feels to be resilient.’

Following the release of Boomerang, Nicole is hoping to drop her long-anticipated album later this year.

But she said fans might be surprised by some of the style of songs included on the record.   Nicole said: ‘I’m still working on the album, it’s always a work in process. But for the most part, a lot of the stuff I have recorded so far is like really big dance anthems – really energetic, motivating, inspiring and fun songs.

‘They are good to work out to. I’ve done some stuff with will.i.am, who executive produced the album, and I’ve been in the studio with Toby Gad –  we did some more mid-tempo earnest heartbreak songs. And I’ve worked with Dallas Austin, I was just in the studio with Afro Jack so it’s going to be a good mixture.’

But one track which won’t be featuring on the  album is a duet between Nicole and her racing driver beau Lewis Hamilton, who  has recently ventured into the world of music.

She said: ‘I  think he likes to keep his music separate so I am there just as a fan and just  to support him.’

Nicole also opened up to MailOnline  about  the secrets behind her incredibly toned and lithe figure,  crediting new  exercise sensation SoulCycle, as well as her regular dance rehearsals, for  helping her stay in shape.

She said: ‘Just get your ass to the gym, there’s no other way! I’m really excited about this new type of spinning class I have been taking called SoulCycle. I’m a runner, I like to jog and get into my music and zone out.

‘My dance rehearsals really get me in shape as well, and also yoga – just anything to keep you active.’

As for her diet, Nicole said: ‘I try to keep it balanced. I try not to deprive myself of anything because generally it’s just going to come back around and then I’m going to eat everything. But the smart thing to do is to control it and to not eat late at night – try to stay away from processed foods. Last night I was craving chocolate so I had half of a Galaxy bar and I was cool with not having the other half, and that’s ok – everything in moderation…’

In addition to her Boomerang, her upcoming album and a potential X Factor return, Nicole is also hoping to further her acting career – following a brief but memorable cameo in Men In Black 3.

She said: ‘I’m looking at doing film, I’m reading scripts to do some more acting. I would love to do a movie musical, maybe a comedy, indie or even an action film, I’d love that. Even theatre, whenever I can squeeze it in would be great.’

But Nicole concluded: ‘Right now my focus is really on music. I have had so much focus on X Factor so now at least I’m able to focus on what’s going on with me and my music.’
