Singer Nicole Scherzinger’s vampy style has injected the X Factor judging table with some much-needed sex appeal.

The 34-year-old loves taking risks with her wardrobe and has been a fan of curve-kissing dresses and barely there designs since her days as a PussyCat Doll.

So it might surprise you to learn that British singer Adele – known for her generous curves and simple style – is one of the American star’s biggest style crushes.

In an exclusive interview with online dress company Little Black Dress Nicole cited the plus-sized star’s wardrobe as one of her favourites alongside bootylicious singers Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.

Nicole says: ‘I’m very inspired by my music and other artists in the industry such as Beyonce, J.Lo and Adele,

‘All of those ladies have fabulous bodies and definitely know their way around a little black dress.’

‘I have always admired Marilyn Monroe. I think she looked fabulous whatever she wore as she knew her assets and how to best show them off.

‘I also love Victoria Beckham’s style and think her dresses are amazing.’

Less is more when it comes to Nicole’s signature style, and the star revealed that she is a huge fan of the wardrobe classic, the LBD: ‘I can be quite daring with my clothes but believe that you have to feel comfortable and confident to carry off whatever it is you’re wearing.

‘In the evening I love to look sexy but ladylike and find that a little black dress is a great example.

‘A little black dress can mean so many things – I guess it depends what you accessorise it with.

‘You can have an LBD with boots and leather jacket for a gig, or you can accessorise with a clutch bag and killer heels for a night out.

‘Whatever you wear your LBD with, remember the one thing you really need to look fabulous is confidence.

I have lost count of the number of LBDs I own as my wardrobe changes so often with my travelling.

‘I like styles that show off my shoulders, as I think your arms and shoulders are revealing – but not too revealing – and make you look strong.

‘I wore a really cute LBD for my recent X Factor auditions actually… it had a halter neck and an A-line skirt which was very feminine but edgy at the same time.’

Of course, looking good in any dress is easy when you have a body like Nicole’s and keeping busy is a huge part of Lewis Hamilton’s girl’s keep fit routine: ‘I stay in shape by performing, rehearsals and running around from place to place.

‘If I want to unwind then I’ll do yoga or Pilates to keep my body supple and strong.

‘I try to eat healthily, drink lots of water and get some decent sleep like any other girl out there. I’d like to say my beauty regime plays a big part of my day, but a simple cleanse, tone and moisturise is all I need.’ she said,

Nicole is constantly topping sexist woman lists, but the Hawaiian born star has bits of her body that she does and doesn’t like, just like the rest of us, adding: ‘My collarbones are my favourite part of my body. You will often see me wearing dresses that are open across the top. I think shoulders are sexier than cleavage.

‘I don’t like my thighs, the back of my legs or my chubby knees – I never have. I wear clothes that show my legs in pictures and videos but not often when I’m appearing live.

‘It takes time to really understand your body shape and it has taken me years to know what I can and can’t pull off. I love a dress that is fitted, classy, sexy and feminine.’

And, of course, even A-listers have some dodgy style skeletons hiding in the cupboard that they would rather forget.

Nicole says: ‘Before the Pussycat Dolls I was part of the girl group Eden’s Crush. I don’t know what we were thinking … we had pants that were cut to make us look like the Incredible Hulk and we had to burst out of them. When I look back I wonder why nobody told us!’
