Nicole Scherzinger: “Simon Cowell didn’t fire me from X Factor USA”
Jun 18 2012

The former Pussycat Doll revealed she wasn’t too proud to be relegated to our version of Simon Cowell’s show after leaving the US panel behind.

However, she insists she wasn’t fired. ‘I was only ever going to do one season,’ the singer said. ‘I didn’t get the boot, that’s why Simon brought me here. He is very supportive and I love The X Factor.’

She insisted she and Cowell had a ‘great relationship’ but was more conscious about his ruthless axe.

Asked how she thinks she’ll fare on this side of the pond, she added: ‘Who knows? Maybe they’ll kick me out.’

After her efforts failed to impress US viewers, Scherzinger is taking a ratings gamble by refusing to change her ways. ‘I won’t do anything differently,’ she vowed. ‘I’ll be honest, speak from my heart and work really hard like I did last year.’

The 33-year-old admitted her second chance came ‘so last minute’ after she was given a test run as a guest judge against Rita Ora, Geri Halliwell and Leona Lewis during a trip to London. Many thought her romance with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton was behind her move to Britain.

But with the pair set to see even less of each other, she said her arrival in her ‘second home’ was ‘for the contestants and because I love it here’.
