Nicole Scherzinger ‘I’m a fool for love, it gets me every time’
Oct 19 2014
Not a lot of people know this but I’m very good at… turning that frown upside down. If someone’s in need of help, I pray and meditate with them, and if that doesn’t work I give ’em a drink!

My nickname is… Nic, Nicky or, when it comes to my nieces, Auntie Nonny. When I was growing up in Kentucky, it was Hula Girl because I come from Hawaii originally.

The bravest thing I’ve ever done is… choose this as a career. It’s a tough industry and to stay resilient, keep on top of it and not lose yourself takes some doing.

My favourite TV show is… The Cosby Show. I always felt that if the whole world ran like the Cosby family, we’d all be in a much better place.

My perfect evening is… getting together with my girlfriends Katie, Debbie and Liz. A great girls’ night would be wine and dinner, especially when it’s some Mexican food. I’m not home often but when I am, that’s what’s on the menu.

I’d like to say sorry to… my family, who I don’t get to see enough because I’m always working.

My first kiss was… when I was around 14 years old. It was so romantic, even though I seem to recall it was behind a skip opposite my school. I waited a long time for that kiss but it was worth it.

My biggest regret is… when my friend Will.i.am invited me to his house to meet Michael Jackson and I didn’t go. I had an American Music Awards performance the next morning and said, “No, I’ve got to sleep and rest my voice.” But I should have said yes.

The one thing I’d change about myself is… to be more decisive. It takes me so long to decide anything and it’s such a waste of time. You can waste years of your life that way.

The best thing my parents taught me was… to never compromise myself – that’s what my mother instilled in me. It’s how I try to live my life and I hope I’ve succeeded.

The last time I cried was… last week when I was feeling unwell. I had a good cry and woke up the next day feeling so much better. The pain in my throat had gone away because I’d released all that negative stuff.

The first record I ever bought was… Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston. I loved Whitney and she’s the person who inspired me to sing. I wanted to be her growing up – her voice was everything to me.

It’s not good for my image but I like… salt and vinegar crisps and Picnic bars.

My greatest weakness is… that I’m a fool for love. It gets me every time – I need to build up a thick skin.

If I could pass any law I would… enforce the whole idea of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and to make people aware of how wrongdoing really affects other people.

I drive… a Maserati GT. She’s pretty and I call her Pearl because she’s pearl white in colour.

The shop I can’t walk past is… I was going to say Nando’s but that’s not really a shop, so I’ll go with Vivienne Westwood because her clothes are so funky. I also love pottering around grocery stores too.

The most expensive thing I’ve ever splashed out on is… some really nice, fancy bed sheets. You can’t beat a bit of luxury in the bedroom, can you?

My perfect Sunday is… having a Sunday roast with my family. I don’t cook the dinner, but I’ll make the dessert.

My favourite place in Britain is… the parks. I love all that open, green space. If I don’t want to get recognised, I’ll just go for a run wearing dark glasses and a hat and I’ll run fast.

My last holiday was… a lovely break in Croatia. It’s such a fabulous place.

I’m currently reading… The Purpose Driven Life by pastor Rick Warren, which is a very inspirational book.

The best day of my life was… when my sister had her children. She’s my baby sister, she had twins and she was so strong when she went through it. I’m so proud of her.

If I had half an hour left on Earth, I would… just sit down and spend time with my family.
